About the course
Elbow, wrist, and hand conditions are some of the most common referrals in outpatient orthopedic practice, yet many clinicians default to the same generic forearm stretches and tendon loading protocols regardless of presentation. Meanwhile, the growing evidence on cervical spine contributions to elbow pain goes unaddressed, patients with lateral epicondylalgia keep getting told to rest and ice, and conditions like TFCC injuries, trigger finger, and first CMC osteoarthritis get treated with impairment-based approaches that miss the specific diagnosis. This course changes that. You'll learn to differentiate lateral epicondyle tendinopathy from radial head dysfunction, reframe tendinopathy management from an inflammatory model to a load capacity model, and build condition-specific treatment plans for carpal tunnel syndrome, De Quervain's tenosynovitis, TFCC injuries, trigger finger, and thumb CMC osteoarthritis. A dedicated module on regional interdependence explores the evidence linking cervical spine dysfunction to elbow symptoms, even in patients with no neck complaints, so you stop missing what's driving the pain.
Meet Your Instructor: Dr. Alex Feitz, DPT
I completed my Doctor of Physical Therapy at Idaho State University, followed by an orthopedic residency through A.T. Still University. I'm currently pursuing an orthopedic fellowship through Regis University. My clinical focus is on treating extremity conditions, with additional training in dry needling, thrust manipulation, diagnostic ultrasound, and EMG. Extremity conditions are where I've built my practice, and they're where I see clinicians struggle most with clinical reasoning. Not because the conditions are rare — but because the differential diagnosis gets overlooked. This course is built around the conditions you're already seeing. My goal is to help you evaluate them more precisely, load them more effectively, and stop missing the cervical spine when it's part of the picture.
