About the course

This course teaches physical therapists to evaluate and treat older adults using the same rigorous clinical reasoning expected in orthopaedic specialty practice, while accounting for age associated changes in physiologic reserve, fall risk, frailty, sarcopenia, bone health, cognition, medications, and comorbidity. The central stance throughout is simple: chronologic age is not a proxy for low capacity. You'll learn to screen carefully, identify modifiable risk, select outcome measures that actually match the construct, and then provide a sufficient, progressive training stimulus instead of defaulting to low load, nonspecific "geriatric" exercise.

Meet Your Instructor: Dr. Mike Davis

Michael Davis, PT, DPT, OCS, is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist with a background in outpatient orthopaedic practice, functional rehabilitation, exercise prescription, and gait and movement analysis. He brings an orthopaedic specialist lens to older adult care, one where safety screening refines the dose of rehabilitation instead of automatically reducing it.
